As the 1930's progressed and war clouds gathered over Europe. What must have been his thoughts we don't know he never talked about it He must of prayed that it wouldn't happen, but unfortunately in 1939 it did Grandpa was 42 Edna was 39 Joan was 13 & Dad was 11 Clifton College was evacuated to Bude, Cornwall Dad hated it On night of the Bristol Blitz the Bristol he knew and loved had gone Wine St, Castle St, Corn St, High St, The Dutch House, St Peter's St and its Church, together with St Peter's Hospital the Heart of Old Bristol all gone also hit was the families glue works at Lock's Mill in Bedminster which received a direct hit also hit was St John The Baptist Church in Bedminster Which had been the families church since the 1780's in 1945 the war ended and with it came peace
